BILL 13 PETITION  -  The Whereas Clause, What you are supporting:

"WHEREAS we support the addition of “bullying” to the Education Act, and support Bill 13 “An Act to amend the Education Act with respect to bullying and other matters. We believe in the rights of the students “to grow up as productive, contributing, and constructive citizens in a diverse society of Ontario.” We also affirm that we “believe students should feel safe at school and deserve a positive school climate that is inclusive and accepting, regardless of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family status, or disability.” We believe that you should, as the Legislature of Ontario, pass Bill 13 so that all students may be treated as equals in the school environment, regardless of what form, private or public, they/their parents choose for them to attend."

We at St. Mark's are called to be an Affirming Ministry, and that sometimes means that we will be faced with difficult decisions, like standing in line with the LGBT community as opposed to standing in solidarity with our Catholic brothers and sisters, but all people do deserve the right to freedom of expression and experience, by acknowledging and supporting this petition we are standing in line with the countless LGBT students in our schools today.
